Message: 12V B+ terminal of the amp goes directly to the battery. This wire should be fused 12-18" from the battery, if not the 12V hot lead could burn up your truck if this wire is shorted out. Yeah this happened to one of my friends years ago. The 12V remote (turn on) wire goes to the deck, or if the deck doesn't have a remote turn on wire or power antenna lead, go to the fuse box keyed power (hot when key is on in the run or accessory position, off when key is off)
Don't run the 12V B+ to the fuse box because it will not supply enough current to run an amp. If so, you will be pulling power to run the amp through the trucks stock wiring harness which was not designed to handle this type of load.
Check out some websites of amp MFG's like rockfordfosgate.com this should help you get the amp wired correctly.

Message: DSW, was almost right on the money. Only comment I have is don't use the power antenna lead to run to your amps remote. If you do the amp will only come on when the radio is on. If you try to listen to a cd/tape the amp won't come on.
