Message: They made the Daks to be comfortably quiet inside which means also quiet outside if you get my drift.
But to compensate, you can: Open a window(s), Remove all sound padding from behind interior panels and/or Remove all interior panels so your sheet metal will become a conductor of vibration carrying the sound outside the vehicle better, or build a 2,000 watt system with 15-20 speakers so you can be heard with windows up, only thing is you won't need to worry about it anymore because you will be clinically deaf and won't know that your stereo is loud anymore except for the officer handing you a ticket for noise pollution:)
With most newer vehicles, if you can hear your stereo outside the vehicle loudly, it's way too loud to be safe inside. Not trying to preach, but you only get one set of ears in your lifetime. I have always built very big competition level stereos(ones that would cause blurry vision and knock the wind out of you) in my vehicles but have calmed down some from the constant ringing in my ears, called tinnitus. It can be very aggravating in a quiet room. Seriously, I always need some background noise so that I do not hear the ringing. I still build a nice stereo in my vehicles, but now go for musical accuracy and clarity with plenty of volume on tap when I need to clear the cobwebs out of the speakers and my ears. Most of all, have fun with it and if possible do it your self to save some $$

Message: THANK YOU 2THEXTRM FOR THE PREACHING! I totally agree with you. I've had people wear ear plugs for a day to see how it feels and they think it sucks. I just tell them to keep their stereos they way they have them and they'll be able to do that without the plugs.
My question however is this, WHY do you want to hear the music outside of your vehicle?? Mount concert speakers in the back if need be, but I personally do not care to hear other people's music. I dunno, that's just me..
Also, if you plan on competition, most people try to keep as MUCH as they can INSIDE, not out. Instead of those sound waves turning into vibrations or leaving the vehicle, they stay inside, which increases the SPL.
I am still confused as to why you would want to hear it outside and PLEASE listen (no pun intended) and becareful with your ears..
Hearing damage..
90 dbA 8 hrs
92 dbA 6 hrs
95 dbA 4 hrs
97 dbA 3 hrs
100 dbA 2 hrs
102 dbA 1.5 hrs
105 dbA 1 hr
110 dbA 0.5 hr
115 dbA 0.25 hr or less
Also, you DO get damage, everyday, but it's only temporarily, but if you sustain it, you will get permenant damage. This just isn't directed to you, but to everyone. I find myself slipping up every once-in-a-while with my headphones...
