Subject: speaker adapter IP: Logged
Message: ok, is there any speaker adapter that is just made to adapt strictly from 6&3/4 to 6.5? i found adapters all over the net, but they have to sizes and one is 5&1/4 and the other is 6.5 but, to get the 6.5 you have to cut into the adapter and well i don't feel like hacking off my fingers for a speaker. so can anyone tell me something here. also, i decided to get some pioneers for my fronts and two six .5 inch sub for my rear and an aftermarket head unit for now, when i am ready to introduce my son to pounding bass i'll pay the 200 the local shop wants for the box under the seats. cause right now it would be useless to purchase bass subs if i can't use them right? so six inch subs will do the job to provide listening bass for now. if anyone could help me out i'd appreciate it. thanks

Message: You could just purchase the right size speakers. Alot of brande make the proper size. I think you would be wasting money on the 5.5's in the back. Investing in good two ways is the way to go. As far as I know there is no 5.5 that will sound good enough to pay for.

Message: I know pioneer makes speakers that will fit in all dakota stock sizes. Check out pioneerelectronics.com they sound the best in my opinion. Get some 3-ways for more clarity also!

Message: Pioneer 1767s come with the necessary ring to mount in the stock mounting holes. Sound fine, also.

Message: I just put MB Quart RCE 265s in mine and I just had to file down the posts on the included adapter rings. Dual 6.5 components sound GREAT by the way.

Message: Ditto's to daddio, just drill through the plastic ring and into the sheet metal. Rears, just drill into the metal.
Don't want you all laughing, but I got 2 sets of Quadrasub 6.5" components on Ebay for $50, $15/pair plus $20 shipping. I thought what the heck, I'll gamble and see what they sound like. Might not be Quarts, but for $50 they rock, just have to see what they sound like amped.

Message: daddio,
Any problems with mounting depths on those Polks. I haven't heard them yet, but will check them out as I like the frequency range.

Message: not at all . the only concern i had is they might hit the back of the door panel when i re-installed them but, there is about 3/8" inch between the tweeter and the panel.
