Subject: question:5 and a quarter inch sub for cc IP: Logged
Message: hello
i read some were on this forum that the vent feeling thing below the rear speakers in the back area of the cc are holes for five and a quarter inch speakers. is this true, is there any special mods i would have to do to use these holes or can i just pop a speaker in and just go. also, can some one recommend a 5 and a quarter inch sub i could stick in these holes so that i could get a little bass. i can't stick some booming bass in my ccc just yet cause gf just had my son on sunday morning. and the way i am setting it up is that all four stock will run as full speakers and then i would have the two subs run on a amp small amp. also can't i just leave the fronts onto a after markett head unit and just hook all four of the back speakers to an amp for sub use, if so, please advise. thanks. note:the reason why i said feeling earlier is that i am blind, and yes, i do all my work my self, how come i haven't shocked myself to death yet, well i always have a pare of eyes with me and i know general electronics knowledge. peace

Message: hey man. In my opinion if you put 5 1/4" subs in place of the stock speakers you won't be pleased. I understand your thinking because i did it to the first car I owned when i was 16 and it was awful. If you insist on doing that, Radio Shack used to carry a line of car speakers. They aren't the best, but they are cheap and they do have some smaller sized woofers. with a little tweaking you can fit some 6 x9's back there, but I'd just wait until you can afford the set up you really want.
