Message: Anyone got an opinion on these amps? Picked a new one up for 72 bucks and want to know if it's any good . And also is it better to have a signal to noise ratio number higher or lower? Thanx for the help, Great Fourm!

Message: I have to say that profile amps are very good quality amps. And the prices for their amps cant be beat. I have six 12" Polk audio subs in my truck and I run three 600msx amps made from profile that I only paid $120.00
for each of them and I have won four car stereo competitions with them in the last five months.
Have fun with your amp and also the signal to noise ratio is better at a lower percentage

Message: They are ok but dont believe their output rating. And s/n ratio is measured in DB and the higher the number the better. 90db = fair/good, 100db = very good, 100+ = excellent (my opinion).

Message: Thanx for the help! I got 2 bazooka el 1204
subs. They only handel 200 rms 250 max, can
i hook them up without blowing them? The
amp is supposed to be 300x1 at 4 ohm. Subs
are 4 to. Can I run them parallel for a 8ohm
load and less draw on the amp hopefully
=less power to the subs. Will upgrade later
but don't have the$. Thanx!

Message: running them parallel will give you 2 ohms, wire them in series to get 8. Series = pos. from one sub to the amp, neg from the other sub to the amp then connect the subs with the remaining terminals (+ to -). I read an article a while back in one of the audio magazines and they suggested always running more than the max for subs, about 125%.

Message: Riiiiight, yea, sorry that's what I ment. So
running more power won't blow them if I don't
turn it up all the way? This is my first system
and i'm working on getting as much info as
possable before I screw things up!

Message: blue92 is right about the S/N.
And since that amp is overrated (IE: claims more watts then it can really do) you will not be overpowering your subs anyway.
Can that amp handle at 2 ohm load when bridged? I doubt it. So your only choices are: 1) run only one sub at 300 X 1 @ 4 ohms or 2) run the subs in stereo (150 X 2 I'm guessing). To get the most out of that amp you need 2 ohm or 8 ohms subs wired according to create a 4 ohm load.
Since the amp was only $72 I'd buy another one and use one amp bridged per sub. That will give you most bang-for-your-buck.
