Message: I have seen some great ingenuity on this site from people building subwoofer boxes for their trucks. I have got about half of my box done but I don't know what to do with the bottom of it. The contours of the truck floor, make using the MDF unpracticle. It would be near impossible and it would take away from the clearance that I need. What have others done, besides fibreglass which is not an option.

Message: Fiberglass is a great way to make your box form to the bottom of your truck, why don't you want to use that??? I had never used fiberglass before, and I made mine in about half a day. went through lots of plastic bowls, and brushes, but it worked great.

Message: It's easy. Use a peice of cardboard to make your stencil for the bottom of the truck ant then trace it out on the MDF. I did this and it worked out great. I used the floor as the bottom of the box and the back wall as the back of the box.

Message: Are you saying that you didn't actually put a bottom on the box? You just used the metal of the floor? How does it sound?

Message: Yep, Sounds great I have one 10" XPLOD with a XPLOD Amp. Works great! I did dynomat the back wall and floor of the truck behind the seats. I also put dynomat inside of the box on the wall of the truck. The only challange was that I put the box behind the passenger seat were the jack was. I ripped the jack out of the floor because it was tack welded. It left two dime size holes in the floor so I patched them up with some JB weld. Sounds awsome and hits hard. Some people frown on this method due to the flex in the sheet metal. Once I installed it I filled that lip on the back wall with "STUFF" to ensure that the metal doesn't ring!

Message: Oh yea, I used black rubber silicone to attach the MDF to the wall and floor. If you have gaps in the box due to the contour on the floor, you can use the rubber silicone to fill them. Let it dry for about a day before you crank it up. I also whent back over the silicone with a thick bead of liquid nails to insure the speaker doesn't blow any of the silicone out! Oh and make sure where ever you apply rubber silicone to the wall and floor, that you sand it down real well for proper adhesion! I hope this helps! It took me about 12 hours of work so be patient with it!
