I have a Rockford Fosgate 10" Power HX2 that I am going to install in my reg cab Dak. I have cut my center seat out to make "buckets", so I have the room between my seats as well as some behind the seats. I have two ideas on how to build the box. My first one is to build a box centered behind the seats with another section extending to the front of my seats through the center. The other would be to mount the sub facing backwards centered between the two seats. My question is, what exactly is the theory or explanation for mounting subs backwards in the box. I know people do it, but I'm not sure why. Does it cut down on required airspace, sound better, or is it purely cosmetic? Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, no more driver displacement.
