Subject: Whos got 15s bumpin in their Dak? IP: Logged
Message: Guys,
Im in the process of putting together a system and wanted to get the opinions and comments of the 15 incher guys :)
I am having a custom box built to replace the seating in the rear of my CC Dak and will have two Fosgate 15s being powered by a Fosgate 301M mono amp that will produce 300 watts.
If you have any pictures of your enclosures please let me see them and I will post mine once it gets built next week. Jason of Stealthboxes.com is putting mine together and we are planned on hitting some of the audio shows this fall and seeing what Db we can crank out of just 300 watts.
Any Guesses to what two 15s in a properly built enclosure will hit?
Thanks
Mike

Message: Don't have a 15" yet, but am getting one soon. I will post when its done. I would go bigger than that amp if you can. Try the RF 1001, great deals on EBay on them. But if you want to stay with the other amp let us know how it works.

Message: Andrew,
Thanks for the reply bud.
I do for the time bieng want to stay with that amp to be in a low wattage bracket in competition.
If I go above 500w then the guys there will have vans/suvs with four 18s, ten 12s or such to try to take home the trophy and they will. I want to see if I can hit around 150 Db (or close to it) with the two 15s.There were several guys at the last event turning 148 Db with four 12s.

Message: 150db with 2 15's and a 301 i would say is virtually impossable. i am doing a setup in my CC right now with 4 12's and a 2400W amp. i would be happy if it hit low 150's. all the luck to ya.

Message: I agree ,
Maybe thats asking way too much from that small of an amp.
I will just wait and see what Db it puts out then go from there.
Thanks for all the advice and comments.

top 2 pics,
2 hcca 15's ported, 4.5 cuft per sub, tuned to 33hz, hit a 143.5 on the new termlab mic's which are about 6 db lower than previous years microphones. powered by a RF bd1500. I miss that system.....

Message: Well I'm going with a single RF HX2 15" in a custom box. Not sure on the amp yet I have my leftover Eclipse 33230, that I used in my car. I have RF HE 12's in a bandpass Q Logic box and that hit 140. I am not really interested in loud anymore, but I figure a 15" will have the "thump" the the 12's didn't. I may go with a RF Type RF X7 for the 15 if my old Eclipse doesn't have the power anymore. I will let you know how it works.

Message: Well,
I have my 15" in now. It sounds really nice. It is a little underpowered right now but I am going to get that fixed in a couple weeks. I put the box where the passengers seat was in back behind me. I didn't have to take out the tool box or anything else. I will put up the pics on my sounddomain page when they are done.
Later,
Andrew

Message: I've had 4 different kinds of 15's in my truck in the last year. Kicker, audiobahn, digital designs most recently.
Free to good truck!
If anyone is interested I have a box for a dakota. 10 cu. ft ported for 2 15's. 3/4 mdf with bracing and corner blocks. Must remove interior trim and cut to fit around box as it goes 3/4" from each side of the inner sheet metal.
