 Subject: grounding problems

Last night I installed a new receiver in my '94 Dakota. It would not switch into cd mode at all. I tried another receiver - same problem. I finally thought to hook it directly to my battery and see if it would recognize the cd. Once it was directly connected, it worked. I think I'm either not getting 12 volts to the receiver, or it's not grounded properly. I have the ground on the harness connected to the braided grounding wire. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have any suggestions?

i had that problem.DO NOT use the ground strap.run a seperate ground for it and i bet that will fix the problem.
