Message: For everyone recommending more screws I disagree, sorta. You want to use a good layer of wood glue along every seam, then put the screws in. Once the wood glue has set you can literally remove the screws if you want to, no harm no foul. You want a lot of screws initially to get consistant pressure on your seams so that they set right. The wood glue allows a true seal and prevents air leaks which are deadly to a sub box..

Message: Do you think you could send me some plans too? I understand getting the correct airspace inside the box for the sub, but what about clearence in front of the speaker? Is it a problem to have the surface of the box right up against the seat?

Message: about the surface being tight to the seats...
If you want (you can make the box bigger this way) remove the seats and the springs that hold them in place, which is fairly simple. I then created a lid that sits on top of the top of the box. I cut the circles on the lid an inch wider than need be, so the subs have 3/4" (used 3/4" mdf) between them and the seats. The seats are mounted up through the lid, shooting screws into their metal frame. Last, i put hinges on the back of the lid -- so if you wanna show off your system or need to get to the subs, you can.
wow...that was confusing. Btw...i have a dakota sport, extended.

Message: Hmmm, sounds good if you have back seats. Too bad I don't.
