Message: Hey all, i have a reg cab with the infinity system. New problem is i have found the upper ends of what the doors can handle an have blown one. At this time i have other mods in line first prior to a whole new system. Whats a good replacement for the doors that will work with the infinity stuff? Also whats the biggest size in the back you can do for more bass short of a custom box? thanks

Message: i personally would replace the speakers with MB-Quart reference series or higher. they are clear as hell and only sound clearer the louder you go. takes alot to blow em.

That's a hell of a lot of money to spend on replacing a simple blown speaker.
Also keep in mind that the amp is equalized for the stock speakers, and there's no guarantee that any aftermarket speaker will sound any good.

Message: Are the stockers a true componet set? Would it be better to just upgrade to a higher level componet set or would some two ways work in the doors?

Message: if you have a tweeter in the door and the 6" in the door, then you have a component set prob. Look for a crossover in the door frame.. if not there, then may be hidden in dash or some place..someone will have to help you with that... when you find out whether you do have a crossover or not, I'd say set up your system to use a component set.. If you have the tweeters in the doors, I'd say buy an Infinity component set (good prices on e-bay) to replace all the door speakers..... I am about to buy a component set and drill out some holes in my door to mount a tweeter...just gotta find a good surface/flush mount one that wont make it look like crap

for 2002 and later trucks, crossovers are done inside the amp, and EQ is handled by the radio. 201 and earlier, the amp does both.

Passenger side kick-panel, I believe.

Message: The Infinity Referrence Series Tweeters fit into the factory cut out. When I installed mine I noticed the marks on the back of the door panel for the factory location and used it as guide to cut out the hole. You might be able to buy just the tweets without the crossover and mids to save some $ if you just looking replace the blown one with something better. Personally I'd go ahead a replace the mids too... the factory ones are junk compared to the aftermarket Referrence series.

Message: To get to the amp, pull the door sill trim off, then pull straight back on the kick panel from the bottom. It pops out of the two friction clips and the amp will be right there. There are two harnesses with extremely short lengths of wire to work with.
P.S. - If you're planning on keeping the stock Infinity system, but want to add a sub, don't make the mistake I did and splice into the output side of the amp to go to the high level inputs on another amp. Weird things happen, such as your rear speakers turning off and the second amp not receiving a signal until you disconnect and reconnect the high level harness. When I redid those splices on the receiver side of the amp, everything worked fine.
