Yes, it works, check the depth of the speaker first, but there is room to do it. Also watch out for the retaining clips, when you put the plastic panel back on, they might be positioned to go into the speaker when you put a 6x9 in there.

Thanks for the info. They weren't that hard at all. The trimming wasn't that bad. They sound so much better than the stock 6 1/2inch ones. Panel removal was easy too.
