Subject: need help with ground, remote, etc.. IP: Logged
Message: im wiring my truck for 2 amps and i had a couple questions:
i have a 2001 club cab and was wondering where you guys were grounding your amps, cause i cant seem to get a stable ground from the seat bolts in the front (my amps are going under the seats.)
also, if i have a a phoenix gold fuse holder under my seat next to one of my amps, is it safe if it is close to the metal without touching it? it has a plastic cap for it.
finally, i am having a little trouble with the remotes for the amps, because both amp remotes are wired in a series circuit, which is then spliced into the head unit remote. the head unit seems to be drawing power from the amp closest to it and the amp doesnt turn on. the other amp DOES turn on. (both amps were tested today and work fine) how did you guys wire remote? i dont think the head unit remote was wired correctly by the guys at the stereo shop because my radio turns on without the key so i might have to work around that.
peace out!

Message: Do you have the paint scrapped away from the metal where you are grounding the amps? What guage wire are you using?

Message: i am using 8 guage wire all the way through for both amps. one amp is a 4ch pioneer with 30wx4 rms at 4 ohms. the other is a 2ch prestige amp with 250x1rms at 4ohms bridged. they arent too powerful so i figured that 8 guage would suffice. i am using 3/16'' ring connecters on the amp and a 3/8'' ring connector for the grounds. the pioneer is the one closest to the head unit, and it is the amp that wont turn on. i am also using splice connectors to connect the amps to the head unit remote.

Message: You might need to run 4 gage wire from your battery to a distribution block with 8 from there. Also do the same the ground wire, but try to keep the ground wire as short as possible. I don't think the problem is in your remote turn on, there's not a lot of power going threw that wire to start with. Although it might be grounding out somewhere.
