Subject: Head Unit Pre-Outs IP: Logged
Message: Need a little help here. I had a Sony head unit which had 2 sets of pre outs connected to a 4 channel JBL amp and 4 speakers. It worked pretty good. Well the Sony head unit bit the dust so I ordered a Alpine head unit which only has 1 set of pre-outs. (which I didn't realize when ordering).. Can I still connect Alpine deck to the JBL amp and power all 4 speakers..? Thanx in Advance.

Message: You can plug in the one set of pre-outs, but you will only be able to use 2 of the channels on your amp. If you want to still use all four, you could get a couple Y-connectors, and put those on the set you have off your head unit, which will give you 4 pre-out connectors to plug into the amp. You wouldn't be able to balance your sound like you could before though. Which alpine head unit did you get, most of the alpine's I've seen have 2 sets?

Message: The CDE- and CDM- series tend to have one set. CDA-s have two or three.
