just paid for my new head unit, should have in a couple days. I am planning my Memorial day weekend to install Japanese electronics in my American made truck...hahahah

Anyway, has anyone installed this head unit before? Does it come with brackets that will mount to the unit and pick up the stock mounting holes, or will I be busy with sheet alumium and a dremel getting it installed? I don't know if I really need an install kit, as it is a din and a half unit. Don't the install kits just give you plastic surrounds for din to din and a half applications?

Any help appreciated. Also, if anyone has a new XM receiver that this unit controls, that they want to sell, let me know before I look to ebay.

Thanks

I had a similar unit in an older dodge of mine. It is the exact same size, and style. The new ones just have more features. All the DIN and a half come with the hardware you need. Really the easiest install I have ever done. The question is, what year is your truck? 01 and up have different mounting screw holes, and a rounded bezel instead of a rectangle. I am thinking if you have a 2000 or older you will not have any issues at all. I don't think Pioneer has added new brackets for the 01 and up Dodge trucks. You can also switch this deck out in most GMs. I had a Trans Am at that time that I would put that deck in at times. You can get it in your truck without to much hassle either way, the brackets just make it easier. Good Luck

I guess I forgot to put the year...duh?

I have a 97, and the hole is rectangle, but kind of rounded at the corners. I can hardly wait to get it to play with...
