Subject: Mounting My Amp

Message:
I want to mount my amp on the wall behind my seat. I want to know how i can mount it without having a ground loop by the amp housing coming in contact with the cab wall. Previously i had it mounted horizontaly on a piece of plywood screwed to the wall. (thats when i had 6x9s in seperate boxes) Now i got me some 10s and i have to horizontaly mount the amp so the boxes will fit. The plywood board wont fit in between the boxes (too wide) so i was goin to mount the amp by itself to the wall. It fits perfectly with about 1/4" in. on each side between the boxes (sat it in just just see how much room i had). So i was thinking of getting some rubber skid liner, like you put in toolboxes, and velcroing it to the back of the amp. then putting a couple of strips of electrical tape on top and underneath the mounting holes so the bare screws wont contact the amp, ground looping it. So any suggestions? Also, my sub boxes are angled, so how could i make an amp rack so the top of my amp is flush mounted with the top of my sub boxes with the same angle?? Box dims. are (WxHxD1xD2) 18x16x8x3 (all inches) Could y'all help me here too?

Why not cut the plywood to fit the space? This would be the easiest method. Then you could take the extra plywood (and maybe some more) and build out the amp rack so it's flush with the subs.

If you're not used to working with wood, it's easy. Just remember to keep your fingers out of the way ;-)

Thanks Intense, but the piece of wood i had was just 1/4" bigger, on every side, than my amp. So i couldn't cut it any smaller, because my screws would bust the plywood because it would be really close to the edge of the board. but not to worry about that anymore. I mounted everything, both subs and boxes, and the amp. I just mounted the amp straight to the metal, and no problems. Everything went real nicely, and installed like it should have. IT SOUNDS REALLY GOOD TOO!!!!!!!! I have my amp turned up half way, so the subs will "break-in" they have to play for a while so you dont blow them atfull volume. But even now, they HIT at just half way, Wonder what it will sound like at full output??!!" Ill give it time, then ill find out. I took some pics, and when i get them developed, ill try to get them posted.
There is nothin' like the feeling to show off your truck system, and have someone ask, "Who did you get to put everything in for you?" and you just have to say, "I did it ALL myself!"
