Message: i think the thunderform has 1.6 cubic feet of airspace. so you need a 10 that will play in .8 cu ft . ive heard jl's are good.

Message: JL's will not fit. Their magnets are to large. I would go with Image Dynamics IDQ or MB Quart PWD. I have the Quarts but the IDQ's are much cheaper and sound just as good IMO. Both of these are phenominal SQ woofers and will pound also. Hope this helps.

Ijust bought a thunderform and IDQ subs with
dual 4ohm coils.
Now, What is the best way to wire the subs?
parallel/parallel for 1 ohm mono?
parallel - 2 ohm stereo?
parallel/series - 4 ohm mono?
etc...etc...etc
I don't have an amp picked out yet so any info
on a good amp to go with the wiring recommendation
would be helpful.
My main goal would be sound quality.
Thanks.

Message: Good choice on the IDQ's!! I just finished my "reworking" of my system and swapped out my Soundstream SPL10's for the IDQ's and the sound quality is amazing. Anyway, to answer your question...I used a Soundstream Rubi 502 and wired each subs voice coils in paralell then hooked em up stereo to the amp. Your wiring choice will probably be determined by the amp you decide on. If you go for an amp that can handle a 1 ohm mono load that will give you the most power (not too many amps are truely capable of that) It probably doesn't matter if you choose stereo or mono because bass is non-directional it should sound the same either way. Are you going to just power the subs with this amp??

I was thinking of getting two different amps, one
for just subs. This seemed to be the most
flexible way to do it, although it will cost more.
Not sure what I'm going to do with the rest of
the system yet. Either Coaxials or components in
kick panes. I've been reading up on how to build
custom kick panels but I'm not tring that until
spring!
