Subject: Component speaker questions IP: Logged
Message: i saw these Pioneer 225 wat component speakers on eBay. whats the difference between the regular 6 1/2's and the component 6 1/2 speakers??? and if i bought this package, does it come with all i need? or would i have to rewire everything? any help would be great! thanks in advance,

Message: The difference is that the components use a higher quaility external crossover with a steeper slope and seperate (and usually better) tweeter. Plus you can aim the tweeter or mount it in a better location. In general comps sound better than co-axials.
You wire them the same - from your radio (or hopefully amp) to the crossover. Then follow the directions on the crossover to wire the tweeter and the mid up. The components ususally come with extra needed wiresto do this in the set.
