Subject: sony explod amp under seat? IP: Logged
Message: Anyone have one of these amps installed under their front seats? I have a 2001 clubcab with the split bench. The amp looks kind of big.

Message: I have the same set-up as you and no, this amp will not fit under the seat (well at least not without out the seat dragging the amp when you move the seat). What I did was cut a large enough hole with tin snips on the passenger side of the rear wall and mounted my amp inside the wall. I also added a switch operated fan inside the wall, which I got from sounddomain.com for under ten bucks.

Message: Which amp are you talking about? I have the sony xplod model xm1002 and it fits perfect under my front passenger seat. I have a 98 club cab. It has about an inch of clearance from the seat so it does not catch the seat when you move it.

Message: I have the xm-752exq. Fits great. I also have a kenwood 829 which just fits.. Dont only look atthe height. Look at the length and width. I had a 2" high amp but it was so long, the seat adjuster bar hit it and wouldnt lock into place.
look at this Kenwood. Check out its dimensions and stay within those dimensions and youll be ok.

| sony explod amp under seat - Great IP: Logged
Message: I have installed in Dodge Dekotas for a friend. We used washers to raise the seat a 1/2 inch - Works fine. My Celica has a amp under each seat (4 X 100 Sony & 2 X 150 Sony). No heat problems - Just keep in mind not to push them past 70% of there max power. Most heat (excessive heat) starts at 70% to 100% power. Security is a plus too. No one knows they are there and if they did - Way to hard to remove.
