Subject: speaker size??? WTF?! IP: Logged
Message: ok so i've seen alot on this board that the 2001 dakota club cab has oversized 6-1/2'' speakers all the way around. BUT i've seen different sources that say that 6-1/2"s fit in the front and 5-1/4" are in the back.?!! heres the links:

both of these sites seem legit... could they both have maqde the same mistake? whats the REAL size???? anyone?

Message: Trust me, I have them in there...
The holes are 6 3/4" wide, however you can use any size 7" or smaller with a wood spacer ring. The mounting system they (dodge) used is not easy to mount aftermarket speakers directly to. You need the wood ring to mount the screws easier. They have the 3 screw holes that are way off and that makes it complicated. I do believe that pioneer and maybe another company makes a mounting system that will work but just get yourself a jigsaw and a 3/4" small sheet of MDF. Trace your new speaker cutout, cut it, then trace the factory speaker over that, cut it. Your done.
