 Subject: Help - Audio idiot

I have the stock CD player in a 2001. Can I hook an amp to this, or would I have to change to something with RCA outputs. I would prefer to stay with the stock unit because I don't want the head unit looking too tempting to thiefs.

go to your local car audio store. get a Line Out Converter. some call it a Line Level Converter.
there will be 4 wires (left + -, right + -) you splice those into the stock speaker wires. and it turns it into a set of RCAs.
