why do solorbaric subs hit so much harder than any others. does it have something to do with them being square. ive heard a solorbaric 10 hit as hard as a 12.

to my knowledge...and i may be wrong...but i think the 10" solobaric has about the same amount of cone space as a 12" circular speaker...that is why they hit about the same or louder...like i said, im not positive, but i heard it somewhere before and i think thats it...someone tell me if im wrong...im kinda curious now...

Justin is correct. Since they are sqare there is alot more cone surface area. A 8" solo baric is = to a 10" round, a 10" solo baris is = to a 12" round and so on......

Yep... all above are true - more surface area on the square sub. Draw a 1" circle on a piece of paper then draw a 1" square over it, you'll see how the corners of the square make the overall area larger. Your math teacher could explain it with a formula and give you the actual answer in inches gained with the square design :)
The reason nobody made square subs before was surround material years ago was just foam and the corners would always tear, but now with space-age plastics and rubber compounds the corners can take the abuse. I'm sure Kicker trademarked it to make sure nobody could copy the design since it's a clearly a better use of space.

A 10" square will be 100 square inches. 10" circle is 78.5 square inches.

the solobarics are nice subs and yes they have more surface area, but i know a lot of subs that will beat them for a lot less money.

there is another company that makes square subs it s an offbrand don't remember who but I saw them last night on some site.
