Message: i was looking to put some 2-way infinity speakers in the rear of my 2001 club cab and i was wondering if anyone had put either of these two models in thier truck:
Infinity Kappa 652.3i 6-3/4" 2-way
Infinity Kappa 62.3i 6 1/2" 2-way
which one would be the better fit? (i.e. easier install) i wanna get either of the two but i'm not sure if theres really gonna be a difference. thanks!

Message: I've got Kappa 5 1/4 in front and 5x7 in back. ('93 Dak) To tell you the truth, I've had nothing but problems with them. I've got a Jensen amp putting 50 watts to all of them. I've had just about all of them go out. (Infinity does have the good warranty and they sent new ones) But just recently, They haven't been putting out any treble, I probably blew the tweeters. I'm just waiting to get them replaced AGAIN and put them on ebay to make way for Rockford Components. I've got the green Kappas, the new ones might be better. I know that they have separate crossovers. Of course if you don't have as much power to them, they might not fuk up. (I didn't have problems until I put the amp in) Thought I'd just let you know:)

Message: Phat4x4 - I don't think that the Kappa's are your problem. I'd bet that its that s**t Jensen (Who would buy one of these?) amp. Infinity speakers are "high end" units that require a good bit of power to push. though your jensen is rated at 50w per channel, I highly doubt that it can push that load (rms) without a THD number over 0.8, which is a lot of distortion. A high THD factor can fry your speakers.
90% of the time (not that i polled everybody) speakers blow because the amp is stressed and pushing a distored signal, which in turn makes the speaker distort and fry!
IMOHO get a new amp. Doesn't have to be big and expensive, just a quality amp.

Message: You're probably right. I bought it on a low budget. What kind of amp would you suggest? Something about that power range.

i got my factory speakers replacet with the Infinity Kappa series. my rear is the 6 1/2" and they fit perfect. i wouldn't see any problem with installing the 6 3/4" it has alot of room.
and an amp to power them.... i have a JVC 4 channel 500 watt amp thats powering my speakers. i'm gonna switch it to a Sony Xplode soon. both fit right under the driver seat........ hope this helps.

Message: This is the upgrade I am pursuing as well. Crutchfield says that the 62.3i do not fit. Obviously they do in your truck. Any modification to the opening? Any problem with the door panel. I am looking for the biggest and best speaker I can fit in stock locations without modification. I know that the openings are oversized 6.75" but am leary about rushing out to buy without talking to someone who has done the install already.

Thanks, any information is appreciated.

Message: I put infinity reference 6.5 in the front and 5.25's in the rear of my RC. and no it was not a "drop in" installation but i was able to make it work without fabricating any extra plates or mounts, and they sound great. I got them off ebay sealed in boxes for less then $60. ALWAYS CHECK EBAY FIRST Right Lesley?

Message: I bought a new 2000 5.9 R/T with the premium sterio system and Infinity speakers. I have loved the way the system sounds. After four years the driver side door speaker went out. Then the Right side went out 6 months later. Then 5 months later the left rear went out. Each time I replaced the speaker with a factory correct unit. After one year the Left front speaker is blown again. Are there different speakers that will sound as good as the factory units with the correct oms and impedence I can purchase that will last without problems? I probally acted to soon and ordered speaker adapters from MLM Audio over the internet to add any aftermarket speakers of my choice.
What are my options as far as speakers go? Is my factory AMP going out and frying the speakers?
Please help

Message: Are the Kappa speakers you refered to the correct ohms and impedence for a factory head unit? Or have you changed the Head Unit and by-passed your factory AMP.

Message: Infinity???
throw a pair of Focal seperates in the front doors, even the cheapest Focals will blow away 90% of the crap out there..high quality and they take alot of power with little or no distortion

Message: I just recently got my 02 r/t dakota, with the infinity stereo system, works great for me. for anyone having speaker blow out problems. make sure they are getting enough wattage, if not, they distort, and break. remember, a lack of power does more damange than too much power any day of the week

Message: I did'nt have any problems for four years. After that 3 speakers blew in one year. I just replaced them with 4 Infinity Kappa series 62.5i. Along with a 200 watt 4 channel Eclipse AMP. At low volume the factory system sounds better, however at mid to high volume this system kicks. It brought a smile to my face and I even stomped it at a stop sign and smoked the tires all the way out of first gear. I am sure the Mopar performance Computer, the Gibson GP301 Headers, flowmaster catback and the Air Raid filter charger with KN filter added to the excitement of the moment. Hope you have better luck with you sterio system after four years.
