Subject: do these pioneer speakers fit? IP: Logged
Message: I just bought a pair of speakers off of ebay:
Pioneer 6-1/2"/6-3/4" Speakers TS-A1665
however on crutchfield.com, when i selected the speakers and configured it to my car, it says that it will not fit in my car!! why would it say that? does it have to do with the dimensions somehow?? or is crutchfield wrong? i hope i didn't just buy a pair of speakers that won't even fit. it seems like they should fit.
i have a '01 CC dakota btw

Message: Probably too small. Make an adpter ring or just mount off center where you can get 2 or 3 self tappers in.

Message: i know this, but it says every other 6.5 inch speaker fits fine except the TS-A1665. i was wondering if it had to do with the mounting depth or something. oh well i'll wait and see...

Message: I think the problem is that while it IS a 6-3/4" speaker, it has the wrong mounting tabs. It was built to fit the GM 4 screw openings, not out 3 screw openings we have in the Dak. You may need to get an adapter ring.

Message: Man, dont worry, you wont need anything special. I put the same ones in my 87 dakota. No problems. Yes yes, i know that my cut outs are smaller than y'alls, (made for 5 1/4s) but I really think that they should fit with no problem. I wouldnt worry 'bout it. Just get some self tapping screws (with drill point), line the speaker holes up with the sheat metal, and drill the holes and tightin' 'em up. No prob. By the way, the speakers really sound good too.
