As long as you're careful with the volume control, the speakers will sound okay, but certainly not great. I would invest in a new amp.

There is a grommet under the brake booster that you can easily get to from both sides. Plenty of room for 4g wire, IAT adjuster cable, two 10g wires and a couple other 14g wires ;-)

Using amplifier from your Clarion Head Unit will be sufficient for low to medium listening levels, anything above that and you will get distortion and blown speakers. If your just looking for a good upgrade from factory and don't need everyone else to hear your system, it works if you are easy on the Bass and Loudness button which kills speakers if not used properly even using an external amp. I have a Pioneer 7300 and use the internal amp to run Infinity Speakers. It sounds great, and is plenty loud for me, although I have all frequencies below 80Hz heading to my sub driven by MTX amp. To get the full benefit of your aftermarket speakers, an external amplifier is often cleaner in sound and volume if you use quality connects and amp.

Also to answer your question on good location on firewall to run wires. There is a large rubber grommet that I believe the Automatic transmission cable runs through, it is soft and easy to access. You can see it with the hood open on the driver side below brake booster and can see it underneath the dash on driver side about halfway up from floor to dash above carpet(you have to move insulation out of the way some). I always suggest you silicone around wire when doing this.

thanks for input guys. i installed my 30x2 clarion amp an hour ago. It sounds okay. Half volume is good. These mb quarts are definately wanting more juice. im gonna buy a new amp, I figure 100-130w per side will fill the order. Next up...........quarts componets in front door. Then ill have to get my thunderform and fill it with some good subs(god.......i wish i could put 2 10"kicker comps in that small airspace).
