Subject: Door Rattle? IP: Logged
Message: I just threw a thunderform in my truck. 2001. Sounds good, except for the drivers door rattling. I figured I would ask if anyones had a similer problem before I go in and tear things apart looking for a solution. Any knowledge would be appreciated. Thanks

Message: I have a 1993 Dodge Dakota LE with :
* Two 6" Rockford Fosgate mids ( in the doors )
* Two Rockford Fosgate Punch HE 10" Subs ( in the
back seat)
* Two Polk Audio 2" dome tweeters (on dash)
* Two Pioneer 5" X 7" (in the back on the sides)
and i get the same sound you do , my suggestion to you
is looking into dyanamat (dont know if that is spelled
right) you can get if thru Crutchfield at
www.crutchfield.com. It is a mat that reduces the road
noise along with the rattle produced by the bass.

Message: I never thought about the vents on the back wall rattleing. the upper console rattles in mine, the door itself doesn't raddle but any thing in those pockets does.

Message: I've looked into that Dynomat, gotta order some, but the weathers been kinda snowy and rainy here so I wont be able to get it in for a while. I did however figure it out. I was at the Burger King drive thru and was listening as the sound resonates off the building, I was hoping to pin point the problem. Needless to day.. it was the components. The woofer in the door pannel's.. Little too much bass. So im going to throw some dynomat in there and see how it works.

go to your local hardware store, and get an aersol spray can of rubberized sound deadner and rust proofer, i got a pound and a half in one can for 3.50. it sprays black and really thick, works exactly like dynamat spray. after i spray 2 coats on my bare metal interior (took out carpet and seats today) then im going to lay down some ice/water shield-really sticky (for roofing-1200sq ft for $40) many people say it works somewhat like dynamat. im doing the floor and rear wall in 4 layers and doors in 2 layers. then im going to add 2 more layers of the rubber spray to fill in any gaps or seams, then im putting the stock carpet back in, and covering it in black aftermarket carpet (already have it cut). my main goal is to get rid of outside noise especially my loud exhaust, also this should keep the sound qaulity alot better then now.
