Message: I bought a am/fm CD player off ebay to replace my cassette player. Has anyone done this before? The only dash screws I can find are on the upper part of the instrument panel. Any help is appreciated!

Message: I have a 2000 dak, and it looks like all you have to do is tilt your steering wheel allthe way down, grap the plastic part around the raido and the instrument panel and pull. After that if it is anything like my old chrysler there are just 2 screws.

Message: I am having the same problem. I've installed hundreds of stereos, some in cars that look more difficult than this. I'm puting an alpine head unit in my father's '02 dakota, and i've pulled out every screw i can find and yanked on everything, and i think i'm going to start breaking things if i pull any harder.

Message: nevermind, i just finished installing the stereo, it took about an hour and a half, including trying to find tools in ym garage which is a job all in it's own. First, you have to pull off the panel under the steering colum and losen the bolts that hold the colum up so you can drop it down (this dakota doest have a tilt wheel). Then pull the 2 screws out above the guage cluster and give that whole panel a good yank to break the spring clips lose. Disconnect the headlight switch, heater control, and passenger air bag on-off switch and pull the panel out of your way. Then you've just got 4 screws on the radio and it's out of there.

Message: I managed not to break any of the spring clips. Everything went back together very well. No rattles or anything. Also , I left out that on the headlight switch connector, there is a little red clip on it facing the driver side of the truck. You have to pop it out with a little screwdriver or else the connector won't come off of the switch. Anyway, just be careful when pulling the pannels off and you shouldn't have a problem
