Subject: which memphis amp IP: Logged
Message: ok. just need some suggestions.. i finally have some (not alot) of cash..
first. i am one that believes more power is not necessarily better. so to all these "who has the loudest system".....whatever. does it sound good and clear. .. anyway.(i had a long day with one of the local stereo guys)
ok. i have an alpine 7894 hu, and 2 sets of mb quart rsc216 components.
i dont plan on entering any competitions, maybe if i ever get a tform or something similar...
shoudl i get a 50w*4 memphis 2004 amp
or a 75w*4 memphis 3004 amp
here are some things to consider when suggesting...
1. my alpine can allready get it louder than ill ever want to listen to it, and it is a 28w*4 or something around there RMS, 60W*4 peak.
2.Again, this is for everday listening for a somewhat audiophile. (not hardcore enough to pay for focals)
3.I listen to mostly punk/hardcore/hard rock.
The only rap i ever listen to is eminem, maybe once every other week. I also may rarely put in some old fatboy slim once in a while.
4.Is it really worth the extra $120 or so to get the extra 25 w?
5. Thanks for your opinions

Message: I'd suggest getting the bigger amp if you want to spend that extra 120. but that's really up to you. A couple small reasons here, one being more headroom with the amp, another is that if you want to upgrade later (or add a sub) you can use that larger amp.
But really it's up to you. If you can't justify spending that much more, the 50 watts will do just fine.
