Message: It's simple but takes a little time. You have to take off practicaly everything to get to them, including seat belts.

What year/configuration is your Dakota? if it's a Gen3 regular cab, then it's not too bad.
First you will need a large torx head driver. If memory serves me correct, it's a 47 and will fit on a ratchet. Lift up the plastic cover on the seatbelt returns (the ones by your head when you sit down) and you'll see the bolts. These are the only bolts you'll need to undo. Once the bolts are out, start gently pulling at the top of the pillar panel. There are two white, plastic panel rivets that you will need to pull out. When you get to the bottom of the panel, tip it towards the front while sliding it backwards. The bottom of the panel goes under the rocker panel by about 1 1/2". It may be necessary to lift the rocker panel up a little to disengage the pillar panel.
Once you have the pillar loose, you can see the speaker and wires. You should be all set from there.

Message: I just changed all of the speakers in my '01 CC to Infinity Kappa 63.3i's. The back speakers were a bi*ch, but in about an hour and a half I was done. The hardest part was getting everything back together.

Message: If you are going to change your speakers head to the local salvage yard and get some speacker rings out of another dak because you will find that unless you are putting in 7inch speakers the 6inch won't fit.because the factry ones have brackets on the speakers themselves

Message: That is true. They are oversized speakers. i bought a pair of mb quarts. They are bigger. All i needed was 3 self tappers. Perfect! Anyone have the scoop on the fronts in a 2001 cc?

Message: Yeah, its pretty easy. You need to remove 2 screws up top and 2 or 3 along the bottom of the door. Then you can lift up on the panel and pull it off..Then diconect the electrical plugs and door handle. Not hard at all. You can use 6 1/2 or 6 3/4. Youll need a spacer ring with the 6 1/2

Message: It is very easy, just don't pull on the door, you will break the plastic holders. While your in there get a 1'x1' sheet of dynamat and put it behind the speaker on door wall. Be careful when you put the door back on, the plastic brackets will poke your speakers.
