Subject: isobaric box. IP: Logged
Message: I have a question on an isobaric box, I understand that its primarily for space requirements. but in terms of sound/spl is there any benefits. It would be real easy to get two twelves into a cc dakota with this type of setup.
would this setup isobaric ported be louder 2 twelves in a basic sealed box. currently I have a huge ported box and love the sound to death but don't have that much room in my truck.

Message: An isobaric setup mainly doubles the power handling of one sub. You won't see any effects from the added cone area.
About which would be louder, that depends. Usually a ported box can gain 3db or more depending on tuning frequency over a sealed. But i'd say they would be fairly even, with the isobaric having the advantage in playing some frequencies because of the tuning of the box.
