Subject: im going to prove them wrong IP: Logged
Message: i went to my local car audio shop, they know me well and give me great deals on everything. they have done some really cool custom installs and do great work.
i told them i want to do subs under the rear seat of my club cab. preferably 2 12"s. they told me it is IMPOSSIBLE to fit 2 12"s under the rear seat and still have full use of it. they told me my only option is the MTX Thunderform. I DONT THINK SO!!!!!
well, i want to prove them wrong and fit my 2 12" Rockford Punch DVC's under the rear seat. so today i ripped out the rear of the truck. took out the tool tray and put everything back together. i sat the subs in the place they would be. when the seats were down the top of the subs were almost flush with the bottom of the seat.
so i am going to raise the seats 2" by making a bracket for where they mount to the wall of the cab. that will also give me enough room under the sub for the fiberglass bottom of the box. and it should allow full use of the rear seat movement up and down. it might be on a little angle, but i think its gonna work.
im going to start building the MDF frame this week. its gonna take me a few weeks to do it because im really busy at work. but ill post pics of my progress.

Message: Of course you can fit 2 12's in there... look at some other threads... plenty of people have done it before... shoot a couple have put 2 12's in RC.
As for your set up... sounds like your on the right path lifting that seat will give you that valuable extra bit of room you will be wanting.
Keep it up and let us know how your doin

Message: you can definitely fit it under there but u have to raise the seat up. I just finished putting 4 10's under the seat. I got rid of the hinges and just put the seats on top of the box.

Message: well i got the brackets made and raised the seats 1.75".
i tried to raise them a little over 2" and it wouldnt work, the seat arm would hit the bottom of the back rest part. raising them 1.75" is the max you can go and stil keep the seats functional.
i also started the MDF frame. i have the front, the back, and the top all cut. i just have to do the sides and the frame will be pretty much complete. the fiberglass work is gonna be the hard part.
anyways, its looking pretty good. looks like its going to work out.

Message: keep in mind that they might fit, but will your box have enough air space for the subs? You don't want to do all this then find out the subs sound like poop because of to little airspace. Just my $.02

i should have about 1.3 ft^3 after sub displacement. ill see how it sounds. if it doesnt sound good i will switch to a different sub. if i cant get a good sound out of 12"s i can always switch to 10"s.
