saveyour money and build your own. prefab boxes are junk. if you build a ported box you'll build the slotted port in your box...not buy it and put it in. You don't need to have a rectangular port...you can make it however you want it. The size/depth will depend on how low/high you want to tune your box. the lower the better for sq...but you will lose spl. if you want help figuring out the size/shape and dimensions of your port let me know

have you got all your wire, fuses, fuse holder. Are you going to upgrade the wires to/from your alt. as well? Instead of a cap i would spend the extra money on a HO alternator or another battery. If you haven't bought the wire yet, i thought i'd let you know that you don't have to go out and buy the expensive stuff. Like from the battery back to your system you could go to a welding shop and get wire from there. Just as good if not better than most audio wire 2 or 3 times more expensive. I assume your going to run 1/0 from the battery back right?

Start with attaching your power wire to your battery's + terminal. then, less than 18 inches down the wire you need to cut the wire and install a fuse. There are many different types according to how many amps you are going to draw, but if you are going to have 2 1200.1's, you'll probably need a wafer style fuse, like 200 amps or a little above. your local car audio dealer should have one.

then run the power wire through the firewall and under your door's base board, or wherever is most convenient, back to your amps. find a grounding spot in your truck (as close to the amps as possible), strip all the paint from it, and install a grounding wire.

Run some RCA's from your head unit to your amp, preferably on the other side of the vehicle from the power wire.

I dont think your going to need a 1200.1 for each sub.

I just got a l7 12 and 600.1 amp and it pushes very well. The certificate that came with my amp said it puts out 700watts not 600. And the rms for l7 is 750, i think putting 1200 to it would be a bit much for it to handle

I would reccomend getting 2 600.1 for each sub, or just 1 1200.1 for both.

Agree with todd, maybe two amps is a bit much. kicker amps are generally a little underrated, and i'm sure one amp would be enough. but you still can get two if you want, it's up to you. You'll just have to watch the gains.

You'll have to get a distribution block for the power wire. It will split the power wire into three so that you can wire up all three amps.

I still think you should go w/the 1200's. It prolly is a little much for 12's but you'll always want more. I had over 800wrms going to each of my 12" L7's (gen I's w/the black cone) and I only fried one sub in 18 months....voice coil was shot). I know that when I had 10's i wanted 12's and when i had 12's i wanted 15's and that's why i say get the 1200's. if you get the 1200's you will be able to upgrade to 15's later and not have to switch out amps. you should prolly just get one 1200 if you don't think you'll want to upgrade in the future. since your spending all that money why not just get 15's?

no one will be able to tell you exactly where to set your gains. when you get your stereo installed put your cd settings how you want them and then play w/the gains until you hear your sub bottom out and then back it off from that spot. if you want to save some money now and then upgrade later you could just get one 1200 for the 12's and if you want 15's later just get the 15's and another 1200. if you only get one 1200 you'll want to get d4 subs. if you decide to upgrade later and get 2 1200's you'll need d2 subs

both coils combined can handle 750wrms. Kicker is rating them lower to avoid problems and warranty work. The old L7's (black dust cap) were rated at 750wrms and the new ones are basically the old L7g's that alma was using. So they are quite a bit better than the older ones. I think alma was running a zr1000 to each L7 10".

Hey, how about you have some understanding. He's obviously new. I'm sure there was a time you didn't know.

A ground wire connects your amp to your car's chassis. It basically completes the circuit for the electricity to flow. The charge goes from your car's positive battery terminal through your power wire to the amp's positive input, through all the circuitry inside, then out the amp's ground and into the car's chassis which is in turn connected to your battery's negative terminal. then the loop is complete.

Hey DJ, check your ground wire/connection. I had an amp that did that once and I traced all the wires out and found the ground had come undone a bit, so i cleaned off the ground and tightened it back in. Worked awesome after that.

You guys seem to know alot about L7's so I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I' m in the procss of building a box for one 12. Right now I have a rockford 500a2 from my last system it pushs at 610 W at 4-ohms. Do you think it will be enough to handle my sub, and if not what amp would you recommend. I'm not a rookie, so feel free to get technical.

I wasn't familiar w/how much power the audiobahn had as far as rms and what load so I went to their website. Did they state this correctly...2400x2 @ 1ohm or did they just make a mistake and mean to put 2400x1 @ 1 ohm? They L7's won't take 2400wrms. If that amp is 2400x1 then they will handle it....you'll have to be very very careful w/your gains though. I had a 275g4 on my L7's and they were fine, that amp got very hot in the summers though. If you get the orion I would also get 2 fans to put on it. You might want to consider trading in your old ones for the newer ones....kicker quoted me like 225 for new ones....that was with me sending in my 2 12" L7's and them sending me 2 15" L7's....ps i was sending in the old ones (black cone) and getting new ones (titanium cone).

Hey would a Kicker KX1200.1 amp be good for two 12" solobarics L7 4ohms subs or an audiobahn A2300HCT. and is a high current amp better then a class D amp?
