I have to respectfully disagree that JL is way overrated. True I don't like the way their company is going, making such expensive equipment these days, but I still think their W3 is one of the best subs on the market. I could not blow one and they sounded great all day long. I had 500 watts RMS going to each 12" (back when i turned it up all the time) for a year, then i sold them to a friend who had two 500 watt RMS amps that he stuck on them. They took twice their RMS for two years and are still going strong.
Also I think their W7's are amazing. Quite pricey, but still awesome nonetheless. I saw one 12" hit 146 db legal in a coupe car with 500 watts and a simple sealed box. I was impressed. Sound great, too. I think their amps are built like tanks, but their price tag just drives me away.
I agree on the brahma. another awesome sub.
