I just bought a pioneer deck about 3 months ago, but only with one preout. I was wondering if it is possible to either: make that one preout into two - one for subs, the other for an amp- Or to just take out the back speakers and hook up the subs to the back speaker wires then run the amp through all 4 speakers?

Any help in this issue is appreciated.

They make RCA splitters that will split the signal to your two amps. What is the preout voltage on your deck? and what amps and subs are you going to use?

My deck is an output of 200 amps, 45 X 4 speakers. I was thinking about putting in a pioneer amp(maybe the 760 amp) with 2 8" JL audio subs.

You need an active crossover!!!

Run the pre-out from you radio to a Audio Control 2XS (http://www.audiocontrol.com/caraudio.htm) it will split the signal at 90Hz into a high-pass for your mids and a low pass for your subs. Then buy either a 4 channel amp or two 2 channel amps of whatever size you want to run your speakers. If you get a 4 channel amp WITH a built in crossover you do not need the 2XS of course. Run the rear speakers off your decks tiny power out (maybe 10 watts on a good day).

I think I've got an older 2XS in the garage... if intrested email me and sell it CHEAP! It's just collecting dust 'cause I got a Clarion DSP unit and my HiFonic Z440 has a built in crossover as well :)

I think that guy is just tryin to sell his crossover. most amps have internal crossovers, and i know that pioneer does.

So, clearly I'm not just looking to sell my x-over. And at $30 I'm surely not making any real $ off the deal. With a 2XS he can run ANY amp or amps he chooses, it's a nice option to have espeically if your thinking of upgrading at some point in time. Just my advice and a possible solution that pays for a tank-ful of 87 octane in my Dak ;)

How many amps do you know don't have a crossover? Only ones I know are really old (> 5 years) or if they're new they cost 3-4 dollars a watt.

Not tryin to rag on you, just didn't want him gettin confused with all your exclamation points. Hey does your xover have a line driver in it?

that 2xs crossover has a built in subsonic filter. most amps now have crossovers built in, but not all have subsonic filter. from what i read they suppose to protect your subs from low frequency bass that damages the subs. if you have a ported box with your subs the subsonic filter is a must have, well this is what i know from what i read. another thing too, audiocontrol suppose tobe top of the line when it comes to crossovers and equalizers. top it off that 2xs retails for $100-$175 bux! and over, but i got mine for less then half that which is rare. =)

Your info is right on there ticky! Ported boxes should have a sub-sonice filter. Sealed boxes don't need 'em but they can help keep your amp from wasting power by pushing frequencies too low to hear.
