Subject: I NEED ALOT OF BASS! IP: Logged
Message: I have a 98 reg cab dakota, which ofcourse means, i have no room for what i want. I recently purchased the Infinity Basslink X, which is almost 4 inches too large. What is the best solution to this problem for the most bass i can get in under these limitations.

Message: Get an extended cab or multiple 8" or 10" subs behind your seat. You really don't have a lot of options.

Message: you could always build your own boxes. They are not that hard to make and if you do then make them out of 3/4" mdf board. Just make sure that you find out the mounting depth and how much volume you need for the sub that you pick. This will determine how big your box needs to be. it should be in the shape of a wedge, so make sure that you will have enough room for your seat to be adjusted to your settings or else you will make the box to big and will have to drive with the seat pushed up. Where do you plan on putting the amp and what kind of amp do you plan on using. If you go under the seat make sure there is plenty of clearance. If you need only a fraction of an inch then you could put some washers under the seat bolts to get the clearance just don't go to high.

Message: I didn't mean to be so short but you really want to be able to build the biggest box you can and yet still be able to move the seat all the way back. !Don't sacrifice comfort, its not worth it!. Then you can determine what size driver(s) to use. Get out some scrap wood and build you some size pieces to your future box, you can do this by trial and error. Once you have built them you should be able to determine if they will fit behind your seat. This will give you a good basis as to what your box will look like and what size sub will actually fit int there. Remember to calculate enough room to fit the speaker magnet all the way around. You can only screw up $20 worth of wood trying it yourself, if you don't get it right then shell out another $50-100 to have someone else do it or buy some pre-fab boxes.
Good luck

Message: Tyson,
It's been years since I built a sub box but "back then" we used to use 3M spray glue. It comes in an aresol can. it worked pretty well. I'm not sure what they use now but I wouldn't be suprised to hear that the aresol glue is still the preffered method..

Message: I ordered 2 10" Infintiy Kappa 10.1 Dvc subs and got a Pyramid PQ10 10" 2-Way Stereo Hatchback Box. I am hoping i will have no problems getting the subs in the box. I the box is only 12" x 29" x 7" (H x W x D). And behind my seat is 24" x 40" x 12" with the seat clicked up once. I am very skiny so don't need alot of room, but it dose not seem to do much space wise. Im pretty sure the everything will fit fine, Ill tell ya how its gose...
