Subject: question on bypassing stock amp IP: Logged
Message: When I bypass the factory amp in my 2001 quad cab do I need to run new speaker wire from my HU to the right kick pannel in order to bypass the amp or can I just cut off the two conectors (from the amp) and match the wires that way. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated thanks

Message: i have a 98 so im pretty sure they should be the same if not similar. No you dont have to run new wires, but when u cut the two connectors almost all of the wires are different colors and dont match. I had to get a wire diagram from the dodge dealer ship to figure the wires out.

Message: I have a '98 its the same as an '01, I went to the dealer and got a wire connection list,,,
You don't have to run any new wires, just unplug the 2 connectors form the amp located behind the pass. kick plate, cut and solder... it easier that way, although if you run all new speaker wire you have the choice of running a much higher quality wire all the way around and if you ever want to go back to stock its just a matter of plugging stuff back in...
I posted the connection diagram here and several other dakota boards, just search for Factory Infinity Wiring Diagrams.... you should be able to find it
