Subject: (2)2ohm or (2)4ohm 12L7's??? IP: Logged
Message: hey guys, im picking up a Memphis ST1000D tomorrow. the week after im gonna pick up 2 kicker 12L7's.
should i get the 2ohm version and run them at 2 ohms? or should i get the 4ohm version and run them at 1omh (since the st1000d is stable at 1ohm)????????
the ST1000D puts out 600W rms at 2omh and 1100W rms at 1ohm

Message: get the 4 ohm version. then you can parallel them down to 1 ohm and maximize the amp.
ps- great amp. I have it too

Message: That amp will stay cool at one ohm. and there is no sound difference between 1 and 2 ohms. well, the noise is a little higher, but by such a small degree you would never be able to tell, especially on subs.
That amp is MADE to be run at 1 ohm. just like most 2 channel A/B amps. say you have a 4 ohm SVC sub and you bridge the amp. that is basically the same as wiring your subs down to 1 ohm on this amp. It's maximizing the amp.
amps are rated for a certain minimum impedence on purpose. that is the lowest load that the amp can play ALL DAY long without overheating or blowing components while maximizing its potential.

Message: I meant to say just like most A/B amps are able to run at 4 ohms mono.

Message: How about running a four channel amp into a DVC sub? One channel per voice coil?
