Subject: My 1st Custom Box IP: Logged
Message: I built myself a custom box for 2, 10" subs.. I've got each sub box right to spec. and the amps are both flush mounted.
What do you Stereo Guys think, Decent for my first box?
Opinions on different options are wanted and welcome! I want to go smaller to save room now, but I thought it would look better to have the rear look full!
What kind of luck are you guys that are running the pre-formed boxes that fit under the fold seats? That seems like a good idea to me, but money is a factor!

Message: Dude go to my website and check my box out. The biggest you can do is 2 12's. You go any bigger than that then you are lookin for some mods in the box and other junk. My whole system is on page two. http://www.sounddomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=251169&cat=20&val=1
That is the link just copy and paste it into the URL box. If you want anymore info on it just reply this post or if you wanted one and didn't want to build it I can for you and have it shipped. Peace!!

i also made a box for my 2 10's. it looks a lot like cruznlo's speaker box except his is better cuz i kinda did mine half ass. it sux losing 3/4 of ur back seat so i want to put a box under the seat but the subz i got have 5 7/8 mounting depth which i doubt i could fit under the seat but i wanna give it a try since i like my subz. if i find my digital camera i will send you a pic of my carpeted box thats in my truck right now.
could you just e-mail me ur pic of ur first speacker box. i wanna see how it looks.

Message: No I didn't counter sink the subs. The subs have a foam rim around it and the seat sits on that and doesn't hurt it. I already tested that out lol. Um I didn't fiberglass the bottom. I put the rubber on the floor and then cemented the left over carpet on the floor where the subs sit. It sounds really nice. I am very proud of this system that took along time. I'll get the specs back to you when I can find them lol. I mounted my two amps under each seat. You can't see them either. Nothin gets in the way so I can use everything. I'll have to tell you I am proud of the little Dakota b/c you can't hear much outside but when you open that door boom. Also there isn't too much vibration. So if you want the specs just holla back!!

Message: Man the box taken it out takes time. That's the only part that sux. Mine are butterfly nuts and they were rusted so I had to cut them off and it was hard getting my blade in there but it is worth it. I used the holes to bolt the new one down though. Ugh my specs I threw away and my truck is in the shop getting some more work done to it so i can't measure it. But I can give you some rough specs. I used a 2x4 for the front and cut that hump out when i traced it off the old box. I then used 1x3's on the side and the back striped them to make the box level and fit the slope on the side. I believe my box is 54" long and 131/2" wide. I used 3/4" composite board on top and it holds all the weight of the ppl on the seats. I mostly traced everything from the box I took out and replaced it wit wood and customized what I had too. When I set it in the truck I used L brackets and fastened in to the box then to the frame of the truck. Carpeting was marine carpet from Lowes which is very flexible and works very well and then I used carpet cement to cemented it to the box. Once I got the box set it I stuffed everything wit Polyfill all round the subs and gave them some room to breath. I also stuffed my side panels wit Polyfill(WAl-mar $2.00 per bag) and it deadened the sound a ton you can't hear nothing on the outside til you hit the inside. It was a really nice and esy install. Took me like 2 days but that's b/c I am only 17 and I have skewl but that was my first box also. As I said I will build it for ya and ship it out for ya but you seem like the guy that can do i yourself. It cost me like $25 for the box altogether. Any other q's just ask I am here and i'll reply back. Peace!!!

Message: Yes the sides are sealed up. I used 2x3 to seal the sides up the only thing it doesn't realy have is a bottom but i carpeted and rubberized the floor. I didn't take pics of the carpeted floor under the box. You can't put a bottom on the box b/c it wouldn't give ur sub enough room to breath. I stuffed the box and left some room around the magnet wih POLYFILL. A lot of ppl say I am dumb to use wood and there isn't enough room but they are totally rong. My subs are 5.45" mounting depth too. Wood works fine and it sounds great so those ppl can shut up. I don't use the subs when ppl sit on the seat though. U can't really use them b/c u'll mess up ur subs you just have to turn them off but how many ppl actually sit back there?
