 Subject: Kicker Door Speakers/Bad bass

I just put component speakers in my front doors. I turned off my sub so I could hear how good they sounded. They sounded good until i would turn it up and it sounded like too much bass was trtying to come through or something. It sounds really bad. Does that happen with anyone else? I also have it crossovered at 125hz

Cross it over at a higher point. Thats to low for mids. Is it a varialbe crossover? If it is set it at abut 250-350hz. Turn the music up to where you like to listen to it then try setting it in between those settings. You'll be pleased!
The way it works is like this= Your mids are set to recieve full power at 125hz. Not go below 125hz.You can do that a couple ways, bass blockers or bandpass crossover. Which has a high pass and low pass filter.

I was just using my headunit as the cross over.(plus the ones that come with the components)and it only went to 125, I forgot about the one on my amp, so i used that and put it up to about 160, and they sound great,
They are soo clear and loud.

If they are 6.5" then 90-120Hz should be fine.

I see.... I know mine sound like ASS that low.... It sounds hollow..... btw I have focal 165v(polyglass)...... My next purchase is a focal 4"midranges so I can dedicate the 6.5's to midbass.If that doesnt work Im thinking acouple illusion audio 7" midbass....

anyways.... how do you like the CDT's??? Im real unhappy with my Focals. I think they sound like a$$..... I want something ALOT smoother.

u should try infinity...their mids sound pretty good at a lower freq...
