Subject: Corroding Battery Posts IP: Logged
Message: My battery terminals are corroding really bad. Mostly the negative. This started as soon as I put in my subs and amp. Has anyone experienced this problem before? If so what have you done to prevent it? I have tried the felt pieces and some stuff you spray on the terminals and nothing works. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Message: You must clean them first , I suggest some battery terminal cleaner , comes in a spray can , NOt protector just the cleaner , Or you can mix up some baking soda and water and pour it over them and it will disolve the acid that makes the corrosion , The use the protection spray on them and it will sure your prob , You do have to clean them once in awhile , I usaully just spray mine off at the car wash works great !!

Message: Yeah, I clean them every now and then with baking soda and water but it still comes back and corrodes. I bought some dielectric greese today so I'll clean them tomorrow and put some of that on there. Thanks for the info.

Message: Clean um good, I would suggest you remove the terminals clean the battery post/connectors, and then thouroughly clean the terminals, use cleaner bakin-soda or whatever, put it all back together good and tight to ensure a good connection..add the felt pad and then coat them with the protector.
