Message: i was looking at 2 10" rockford power hx2's, they hold 1,000 each rms, but i was also looking at a 15" power hx2 which is also 1,000 watts rms, any suggestions on which to get. i already have a box for 2 10"s so i would't have to buy that but alot of people recomend the 15.
thanks

Message: I have actually had three different systems 1 - 15" Image Dynamics sub, 2 - 10" MTX subs, and one 12" Pioneer sub. The 15" subwoofer is real boomy and not very accurate, The 10" subs are punchy and accurate and the 12" had a nice compromise between the two. In the small cab of a truck any good sub should rattle everything pretty hard. 15" usuelly sound better in large car interiors. Have you considered just one 12" sub, that would sound great and not take up so much space.

Message: I currently have the thunderform with 2 mtx 6000 subs in it and it sounds great. I didn't think it would put out much bass but it will shake the radar detector off my windshield. You can pick these up for around $250 with the subs in it. I would recommend it so you can keep your back seat. Just make sure you have a place to put your amps. There is not much room under the seats or anywhere else for that matter. I actually built a false seat in the back that covers up all the audio goodies. Good for kids but the adults will rub their heads on the ceiling now.

Message: Coming from someone who's had 4 systems ripped off over the last 10 years even with very high quality alarms, the thunderforms really are a godsend when it comes to the #1 way to prevent people from stealing your system - don't let anyone know you have one.
I installed a stock thunderform with the MTX subs and a 400W amp that managed to avoid being stolen, and it sounds just fine - the bass is good for a pair of 10"s, and nobody can tell that I'm running the system whatsoever. I even had a valet-type switch installed so I can kick the amp off to run the stock 8-speaker system when I have my kids in the back or when someone shady's scoping my truck.
Gratuitous plug: www.hifisoundconnection.com has good prices on these (they'll match/beat velocity) and they keep them in stock instead of waiting the 7-10 days for a special order relay. Mention my website in your order to Lisa and see what kind of price they'll quote you (they're already one of the lowest on the web to begin with).

Message: That is were I bought mine (the seller on ebay) and the transaction went perfect. You can't go wrong with thunderform, except installing it does take a little time and patience but not a complete challange.

Message: They are listed in Cruthcfield for $369.95 , or $549.95 . The first price is un-amped with two 10" woofers, the second is with an amp , but only one 10" woofer. It may save some space, but I'd be willing to bet it loses some sound quality.

Message: Crutchfield is about $100 higher then the competition. The built in amp isn't enough power, go with an external amp if you can.

Message: If you use a separate amplifier, one thing that improves the sound greatly is to re-wire the speakers for stereo. I did this with mine, and I put 200 W RMS into each speaker. A friend of mine has the same setup, but bridged his amp for mono. We have different amps, but they have the same power specs. His is a rockford, mine is a precision power. The two setups have equal amounts of thump and volume, but mine sounds much crisper than his, no slush. Also, his amp gain is up almost all the way and mine is at half, and to my ear the volume is equal. I just think the stereo sound comes across much cleaner than mono.
Just my humble opinion.
