Subject: Q for a friend... IP: Logged
Message: A buddy of mine has an Ext dak and has a box with two cerwin vega vega 12's in it. Sounds ok I guess, not sure which one it is, but he has a pioneer sterio, fairly new with the screen saver stuff, and stock infinity speaker system. Oh and a hyphonics zeus amp. He keeps asking me for ideas on how to build a better system for his truck that:
A. has well rounded sound
B. is still able to fit a person in the back if he needs to
his box is just sitting on the seats, and you can squeez a person back there, but I wouldn't like to be that person
he would LIKE good set of comps in the front, good midbass in the rear, and wants good high end bass, but doesn't want to loose the 12" sound.
I told him he should take out the rear factory speakers and throw in a good midbass driver, take the plastic moldings from the sides of the truck (with the cup holders)and put 10s or something in there, take the little seat out and mount a box with a 15 in it's place.
I looked around a little, but I would like to see some pics of what people have done to their ext cabs to give him some more ideas.
I drive a QC so I have my own set of audio probs :) S~

Message: One way to solve the sub space problem would be to use one kicker L5 or L7 sub, they are designed to mount in small boxes and because they are square each size sub puts out bass comparable to the next size round sub, example a 12" L7 will sound like a 15" round sub. You could prob do one L series sub in about a cubic foot box which would only take up about 12" of the seat space just tuck it in the corner. Looking for pics of installs? try www.sounddomain.com search for his model truck.
