Subject: Back of the seats hardware mounting?...

Message:
Has anyone mounted their amps/cap/blocks etc. on the back of their seat in a cc or qc??? .. I was thinking about possibly mounting an 1/8' piece of wood as a foundation. I dont want tons of holes in my seat from all my stuff plus this would serve as a baffle to hide all the wires. Then I could use small bolts/nuts to mount all of my equipment on this piece of wood/plastic. I dont have a SERIOUS system but I do have 2 mtx amps, 1 farad cap, component set w/ active crossovers, and such so I cant fit it all under my seats but there IS enough space on the back of one seat to work. I could then mount a piece of plexi or something over everything so knees and such wouldn't harm anything.

I have only had one person ride in the back of my cc so far so thats not a huge concern. The other question I have is if someone has done this are there little couplings or something I can use on the wood/plastic foundation so that when I run my wires in and out of it, it looks clean? ... I plan to run all wires out from under the foundation between it and the seat so all my connections and such from my amps/etc would go into the wood, run behind it then out of the bottom so it would be killer if I could find like some little rubber boot type things to clean the look of the holes I drill in it. See what I'm saying?

thanks everyone, let me know if you've seen/done this and how did it work out for you.

in the back of the fronts or the back of the back wall pad thingy?.......in my Daytona, i have the amps mounted in the back of the rear seats...using 1/8MDF to mount to...i can assure you, i'd never sit in that seat for more than a couple minutes....wouldn't dream of putting them int he front.....

check out www.sounddomain.com ....for the back wall idea...there was an install there with a couple of older PPI amps flushed in....best looking install EVER......

yeah I was talking about putting them on the back of the front seats. I have a tform so I'm not sure if I can mount them in the back to the rear cc seat. Why did you say you wouldn't dream of putting them behind the front seats? ... I plan to dark tint my windows plus I have a decent security system. Let me know what you think, thanks man.

i think that would be sweet to have them amps mounted in the back of the seat!!

BUT.....

let me say this, the safest place to have your amps mounted is under the seats. and mount them good. then mount ewverything else (that isnt of as much value) else-where. theives will not waste their time if they have to work and pry something from under the seat that is mounted well.

you say you have a thunderform, so you know your box isnt going anywhere. so they WILL be after your deck and you amps after they see that box is mounted the way it is. and they wont waste time taking out every screw out of each sub. it takes too long.

if your amps are mounted on the back of your seat with wood, they will be off with a quick pry of a crow bar, and your seat will most likely get all f*cked up.

tints and alarm are just a deterent. it will stop some theives, and others dont worry about it.

on my car i have an alarm hooked up to a pager. i have a shock sensor on my trunk lid that is just hooked up to the pager, not the alarm. so its basically silent. one night at 4 in the morn my pager goes off. i turn on my TV (i have a video sec. system) and i see 3 guys. i saw one crow bar and one small baseball bat for sure. my car is parked right next to my back door and right infront of my garage. i hit the panic button on my alarm and they scrambled. some low-lifes do this for a living. they WERE NOT kids!! they were about 25

i'd never put it in the fronts because it's REALLY uncomfortable......you have to either take out padding and replace it with wood(so it's really hard) or you don't take out the padding and add the wood(in which case the amp kinda sticks out the other side and jams you in the back.....
