Subject: What Subs Fit? IP: Logged
Message: I hadn't seen any posts on the 8000's fitting in the Thunderform, so I thought I'd give it a try and they definitely do NOT fit...so I was wondering how I can know what subs will fit in the Thunderform. Anything would help!...Thanks in advance

Message: I'm curious too. I'm thinking about selling my current setup and going with something a little more stealthy, but want a good quality sub.

Message: Well so far the best sub that fits in a Thunderform is the Image Dynamics IDQ10 but you have to make sure it version 1(V.1) because the new ones don't fit. So Ebay is your best bet.

Message: I recently put in two Image Dynamic IDQ 10's (v1) and they sound very clean in the thunderform, great sound quality for what I'm looking for.

Message: If you are handy with a screwgun and a saw you might want tu build your own box. You can fit a deeper mount sub that the thunderform. I got plans off this site and have it posted on my site. This road was good for me. I still have my functional back seat for my 2yo son (with car seat).

Message: Hey Jay,
Your box came out pretty good!! Those dimensions came from my web site, as I'm the original builder. It's cheap to build and provides excellent BASS!!

Message: I have a pair of kicker compvr's in mine, the magnet is about 1/8' too deep so I just cut a rubber ring (maybe rubber, maybe not.. I got it at home depot in a roll and it was cheap).. the compvr's require .8ft of space so the tform is perfect for them. I'm installing my system this weekend, I have another thread started asking about removing my carpet and such.. anyhow I'll let you know how they sound. I heard from here they rock so I assume they will be bada$$

Message: Joe, the IDQ10's V.2 really do fit with no mods?
About a year ago several people on this board said without a doubt the V.2 do NOT fit.
Let us know what other subs fit because there is nothing worse then buying something you can't use.
Thanks

Message: Trust me they fit perfect !No mods , One gasket that comes with the Thunderform , They are very close depth wise but they fit , They screw down no problem , The only thing I would do is use 2 gaskets so the vent has a little clearance in the pole piece so they can breath and cool the voice coil , No cutting no nothing , Drop and play ! I actually bought 2 JLWO's today and had to use some foam to bring them up a hair , But my god they really hit for entry level and sound very good in it , I found some round 1/2 solid foam weahterstrip at lowes that brings the sub up just enough to fit , The wo's are a bit to deep but with 2 gaskets they are fine !! Thats all im trying for now , Starting to piss my friends boss off opening all the new subs HEHE I will find a old style W6 sooner or later , Thats the one I want to see that fits or not !!

Message: The JL wo is 5.375 Deep , The IDq10v2 is 5.25 deep , Anyway 5.25 is max depth that could be used with somewhat of a normal size magnet , None of the Cast aluminum frame subs I found fit except the Vega Series and Vega IT Subs , They fit in the hole and fit width but dont sit all the way in the actuall inset ring for the sub mount , A little weatherstrip and they would be fine just to seal it , No cutting with these either
