Message: I'm seriously P.O. The "custom-fit" Thunderform enclosure for my truck doesn't even fit right. The holes to bolt it in don't line up at all. I bought the damn thing cuz I didn't want to have to mess around with making something else work and now I have to anyway. This sucks. Sorry, just venting and cautioning perspective buyers of this product.

I'm feeling the same way right now.....
I just tried installing mine this afternoon. I put
in the middle bolt and then I can get one side
to line up correctly, but then the other side is
almost an inch off on the front hole......I think
I'll be happy just to get three bolts in.

Message: Well, I got it in. I had to shave a considerable amount from both sides of the cup holder bolt holes. Once I got the holes to line up I went to screw in the top three bolts and found that the bolts MTX supplied weren't long enough to reach on the two outside holes. JOY!! Luckily, I had some that were long enough and the same thread pattern. Last but not least it's all bolted down and I go to lay the seats down on top of it and they will NOT come down. They were hitting on the back edge of the TF box. I had to un bolt the seats and slide them up some. Other than that everything went smooth. HA! Custom fit my a$$.

But I bet it sounds much better than stock now... and you still have room in your rear cab too! :)

Message: Oh ya! I got the one that was pre-loaded and pre-amped and it absolutely HITS!! It's one of those systems that kinda hurts your chest when it hits and that's WITH the back seats down. Once I get the equalizer a little more fine tuned it will be incredible. Thanks for the sympathys guys and good luck Brad on getting yours in. I plan on e-mailing MTX to let them know of all the mods I had to make to get it to fit and I'll tell them that I'm not the only one!
Thanks again,
Matt

Message: Mine went in kinda rough too. I had to get a couple bolts started, then it took two of us to persuade the box around the get the others started. Once I had all the bolts started I tightened them down. The seats went down fine though.

Message: Just curious to those who have the loaded version of the thunderform, how much power are you putting into it? I spoke to an MTX tech and he said they require a lot of power to produce, he said around 500 watts. Anybody have an unloaded thunderform and have it hooked up in stereo? I know the loaded one uses 2 8ohm woofers to produce a mono 4 ohm load, but the amp I have won't run mono, it's an older precision power amp (2 amps in one chassis) 200w x 2 only. Lastly the enclosure for the thunderform uses 2 woofers do they share the same space? I assume they do since it's a mono sub. Thanks, tony

Message: I too had a slight problem getting all of the bolt holes to line up, but they weren't off an INCH.... maybe 1/4". Nothing a Dremel didn't easily solve, but yeah - it should've fit right from the mfg. (felt kinda like buyin' new wheels where MOST of the lug holes line up!).
I'm running a Profile Clarus 2-ch amp bridged to 300w. It fully satisfies my "thump-jones", and its x-over frequency and gain are controlled by a Kenwood 1/4 din EQ.
I initially had an Infinity 5-ch amp (50x4 + 200), but it lasted only a couple of months - and that included 2 "vacations" at the repair hotel. Infinity no longer produces amps.... I know why!

Message: Hardbody,
I have a loaded thunderform, 2 MTX thunder 6000's. I unwired it and set it up to run stereo. I only have a 2x200 rms amp on it (sounds like the same PPI you have), and it hits good. I only have the gain at about a quarter, and I have the low boost at zero. I used a sony crossover to get the right tones in the right places. My setup works well, and sounds good on all kinds of music. I also have a lot of room left to turn it up (but I'm not a total bass-head, I like my music nicely balanced.)
The two woofers share the space. I also put some fiberfill in the box while I was messing around. I'm happy with it.
Hope this helped.

Message: Thanks all, steveo I was going to see if you were going to sports authority this past sat night I was going to go out there, this sat coming I'll be on call at work (weds to tues, get to drive my work truck home save on the dakota) anyway I'll talk to you later. Lattimer 1 ? for you, you say you undid the wiring and wired it in stereo? So your running each 8 ohm woofer to a channel on your 4ohm stereo amp? How does that work for you? My PPI amp must be different than yours all it has is a gain no crossover nothing, it's about 11-12 years old been updated once by PPI but it cranks I paid extra for the white version, looks good after I waxed it! LOL later all

Message: Hardbody,
My amp just has a gain knob too. I meant that I ran my rca's through a separate crossover. I have the bottom 200 hz cut out of my mains, and the subs are at like 80 hz. I'm missing some frequencies on the mid bass, but my ear can't even tell. Not a competetion setup, its just for my enjoyment.
I honestly never stopped to think about the Ohm ratings. I got two used PPI amps cheap (Both black ones, a 2x200 and a 4x50) for $400 off a guy I worked with, had been run for a year, then sat on a shelf for like 10 years. I just hooked it up and away I went. It sounds really good, and I haven't had any problems. I don't remember how many ohms my mains are, but they probably don't match up either. Oh well, I'm a mechanical engineer, I'm supposed to be electrically impared.
Would you expect poor performance from a 4 ohm amp driving 8 ohm speakers? Am I going to burn something up, or am I just not reaching my full potential? I thought a higher ohm load was okay to run, you just wouldn't get the same efficiency. I remember trying to run a 2 ohm load on a 4 ohm amp, made a nice smell in my Oldsmobile.
But seriously, its been working fine for about 8 or 9 months. And it still sounds good to me.

Message: The thunderform has an open slot that the jack is set into which is underneath the seats so you won't see it unless you lift the seats up. There are also Velcro straps that hold it in place. My T-form is for sale loaded 'n amped for $275 plus shipping. Paid over $500. Good as new, I just sold the truck. E-mail me if interested. Hope this helps.

Message: Has anyone tried to "fit" one of these into a Quad cab? There's already a few inches of clearance underneath the Quad rear seats; maybe a few custom made steal brackets could raise the seat off of its current mounts and give enough space for the MTX-T-form to fit? Just curious.
