Message: burnt cd's and mp3 cds are totally different.
a normal burned cd holds say.....18 songs
songs compressed in mp3 you can probably hold 200 songs on a cd
am i right on this???? anyone else?
you should be able to play normal burnt cd in your stock deck. if you want mp3 format you have to buy an aftermarket deck that supports the format

Message: the thing about it is because a cd is burnt, it can be burnt deeper and deeper...deeper meaning it can be harder for certain cd players to read the definition, the issue is that mp3 capability doesn't mean that I want it to read an mp3 file but a burnt file, which is differnt but it is called mp3 capability...I just have never come across a stock cd player that didn't read a burnt cd...with .wav files not .mp3 files...
so...KovzR6
in your stock, whether you have it or not know were you able to play a burnt cd?? because I want to make sure that it isn't a malfunction of the cd player...because it plays normal cd's

Message: i dont have the stock deck. i have a kenwood excelon. its doesnt read all burnt cd's. it only read high-end cd's. i have found the best luck with SONY cds. if you are using a no-name cd.or a lower end brand, try switching to a sony. i use the solid silver ones. other than that, i dont know what to say

Message: To try and clear things up. MP3 is MP3 it's a form of file compression. If a deck say's MP3 compatability it should be able to play MP3's. What is being refered to here is CDR compatability which means it will play a cd that has been recorded on a CDR drive using the standard CD format. Which by the way when I had my stock deck in they played fine using different types of media. As far as burning "deeper" a CDR drive write's it's data to the underside of the top layer on the CDR (the part you write on). The only reason it would write deeper is if the CD is abnormally thick. The reason some CDR's are better than other's is the quality of the material being used to make the CD. The better material is more reflective therefore making the cd easier to read. As far as NEED4SPEED's problem unfortunatly if you take your car back to the dealer and tell them it does not play CDR's but plays regular CD's I have a feeling they are going to say they can't help you. Although I hope they swap the deck out for you!
