Subject: Head Unit suggestions . . . IP: Logged
Message: Hey everybody-
Can anybody make a recomendation as to a headunit that will be descent with the stock speakers? Eventually I'd like to go with infinity Kappa series but I'd rather not throw $700 at that right now. For the ski season I'd like some music to drown out the tires on the 2.5 hour ride up the mountain. =) Should I go for a unit that is designed for the opening or are the install kits no big deal? I was looking at the Pioneer DEH 1400, but car audio is not something I know a lot about. I'd like the keep the cost under 250 and I don't really need a changer. Thanks for any input-

Message: Any new head will do good for you. I've run Pioneers in vehicles I've done. They're great head units for the money. I'm running the DEH-P7400MP in my truck, great head..maybe a little overkill though with all the screen savers and such, but it has MP3 capabilities which is nice. The DEH-P4400 is a great head unit and I saw it at www.cbrstereo.com for $179. Its like $240 retail, great deals available online...even better deals on E-bay if you wanna take the risk lol. But as long as you have the factory speakers in there, don't turn the settings up too high because they will distort. Keep the settings reasonalbe and it will sound much better than factory.
