Ok,the main question is how the cutout affects the structure and rigidity of the vehicle.Have you guys cut out the majority of the wall under the window or just a small portion?Would it be a good idea to frame in a "cage"somehow for added strength?I have an accordian boot now because the truck has a cap on it with the rear window removed.I want to get rid of the cap and do a tonneau,the cap just doesnt look right on an RT.I have been reluctant to cut through because everyone is telling me it will weaken the structure and potentially change the crumple zone in the event of a collision.This truck is my daily driver,so I have to consider everything before I do it.I appreciate any info you could give me,thanks,Todd

I never cut out any main structers of the wall just the center area of the wall..The main part under the window is still there.. If you wanna frame in a cage go ahead.. im not sure how it would be done but sure it can..lol.. Im not sure as to if it will do any weakining during an accident because i mean the wall that i cut out wasnt all that strong anyways.. My truck is also my daily driver and the only thing to consider is it may increase a little bit of road noise when not listening to stereo.. if you have any more questions feel free to ask and i can send you pics of the job..

hey guys i will just post a couple pics here ok..
The first pic is of the bed where i cut.. i did cut through the top peice.. but i had to for my box to fit.. but when the box is in there and placed up against there it is pretty sturdy when its all attached.. and just to give it a little more strength i put a peice of flatbar across the top of the box and bed just to help it that little more.. i dont have pics of it but i will take some soon.. just to show you..
This is a shot of the cab when i cut it.. a little bit of strength was sacrificed but other then that its still as strong up top as it came from the factory..
and of course this is what it looks like after subs and box is isntalled with carpet cut and back in place.. the box isisnt carpeted or anything yet.. .. but the front will be painted red to match the interior.. and the back of the box.. in the bed i am in the process of making an amp rack and all then the whole bed will be custom carpeted..
anyways new pics will be comming soon i will just have to go take them.. i will get close ups of cuts and all the other things i did you may want to take a look at as well..
