Subject: Soundstage problems IP: Logged
Message: I had to replace the seperates (one of the
mid/bass drivers was broken) in the doors of
my '98 CC. I was convinced by a local car
audio shop to replace them with the coaxial
Infinity Kappas. They sound better than the
originals but the soundstage is down around
my ankles. I can see the tweeter through the
grill and it is pointing up so I don't think
anything else can be done there.
I know the installer left the old tweeter in the
door, would it sound crappy to hook it back
up? Any suggestions to bring the music up off
the floor?
Thanks

Message: Even though you see the tweets throught the grill pointing at you, take off the door panels and play with the angles. Make sure all your speakers are in phase with each other. Does this coax have a swivel mounted tweet or is the tweet fixed? Coax speakers can sound very good but nothing can beat components. It's just more versitile(spelling?) and usually handles more power. If all else fails a center channel is always an option. Try to stay away from seperating the tweet from the woofer to much. I would say more than 18" is too much. The sound delay will corrupt the accuracy of the music.

Message: I have been after this for a while. It drives me nuts!! I put a center channel in my Shadow , but don't know where to put one in the Dak. Has anyone ever had the dash apart to see what the heck is under there? Man,if there was room for a 4"-5" speaker, that would be great!!
