Subject: Help with my first install IP: Logged
Message: Excuse my ignorance, but I am going to be doing my first install soon. I will be installing a new head unit (Premier deh-p840mp), 2 amps (4-channels to drive my interior speakers, 2-channel sub amp), and 2 10's in a thunderform enclosure.
I am currently in the process of buying this equipment, but I don't know what else I will need to complete the install.
If anyone can give me information about what equipment I will need (cables, wire harness, face plate, etc.) and where I can purchase it at a reasonable price would be appreciated.

Message: You will need, 2 or 3 RCA cables, for the amps. Power wire for both amps and ground. Speaker wire to run from the amp to the speakers or to the where they meet at the back of the radio. Wireing harnis for your truck, to hook the head unit up 5 bucks at Wally world. A mounting kit, 9 bucks at wally world. Fuse holder with aprorate size fuse. Lots of time, and work. If you have any questoins i would be glad to help. I am not master but i did my hole truk my sleff and it works great, not porblems. Pepe657@hotmail.com

Message: I saw an Amp kit at Walmart, i think it was made by scoche, for 30 bucks once. It was for two amps, it came with 4 gauge power, fuse holder, distribution block, and everything else that usually comes with the kit. Now it isnt high end phoenix gold,, but it did look like good quality. Those kits usually cost about 100 bucks for the same thing at best buy. looked like a steal to me.

Message: I currently have almost that exact set up...I'm have a head unit with 3 sets of RCA's going to my amp...and so on....but you really might want to consider throwing a capacitor in there on your subwoofer amplifier...I didn't have one at first and my headlights would dim a noticable amount...so I put in a 1.0 farad cap and it works great...I am also running 2-gauge wire, then it splits to 4-gauge which powers my subs...and 8-gauge which is for my interiors...I love the set up! it took a few days to install because you pretty much have to gut the inside to put in the thunderform box...and take out the seats to mount certain components....good luck!

Message: Those walmart wiring kits are just fine but you'll need to get a larger fuse. They only come with a 40 amp which isn't worth two chits or a fock.

Message: Thanks for all the help guys, you've definitely pointed me in the right direction.
The next big question is, where do I mount my amps?
I've read a bunch of posts where people claim to mount them under the seat, but there doesn't seem to be too much room under either seat. Even if I could squeeze the amps under the seats, I'm concerned about heat becoming an issue.
I have an autotek ss-475 and a 2 channel sub amp made by ESX, both are medium sized.
